Women's Soccer takes 1-0 loss at Navy - The Bucknellian

The Bison were back in action on Friday, Oct. 16, in Annapolis, Maryland to face Navy.

The Orange and Blue narrowly lost by one goal to their Patriot League opponent. This makes for the Bison's first Patriot League loss of the season, making their conference record 3-1-2.

Despite the match being moved up an hour, the night was filled with rough, windy and wet conditions. Sarah McFarland '30 continued her stellar rookie season in the goalie box by tallying six more saves to her total.

One of these saves occurred during an action-packed play in the 54th minute, where McFarland made a full-body extension to protect the net. Lousia Thomsen '28 led the team with two shots, followed by Dani Howard '29 who had a shot-on-goal.

Howard's shot was the most likely to score for the Bison, until a Navy player chased it down. Katie Connell '28 and Caitlyn Scott '27 also obtained one shot each.

The Orange and Blue ultimately lost the match in a late penalty kick, where a Midshipman's attempt landed in the right corner just out of McFarland's hands. The Orange and Blue will continue their season this weekend on Saturday, Oct.

They will face the Black Knights, who are ranked first in the Patriot League, at home in Lewisburg.
